Episode 72: Interview w/ David Tal

 

On today’s episode of the Marketing Genius Podcast, I was blessed with the opportunity to speak with David Tal, Co-Founder and CEO of Agentology. If you don’t know, Agentology is the dominant figure in the real estate industry in lead engagement and qualification solutions. Their team, comprised of hundreds of employees, engineers, and executives have mastered the art of lead engagement through massive AI testing programs and have taken the real estate industry by storm.

For David, creating this company was more than just an opportunity to grow a massive business. It was also an opportunity to help agents, because he had been in their shoes before. David was an agent and broker for over 10 years where he learned all the ins-and-outs of the industry and how people want to be served. This time also allowed Tal to see the rise of the internet and companies like Zillow and Realtor.com. He figured that new technology would be the perfect avenue through which agents could connect with more qualified leads.

Initially when his company started, their methods of engaging and qualifying leads was the same as many other agents. They would take leads from online resources and call them day-in and day-out as much as possible to try and get them to answer. As time went on however, David and his team adapted like the technology around them had. Using text messaging combined with calling, created a new way of communicating with leads. It actually gave them a choice in the matter.

For many, many, many years leads had no way of telling an agent how they preferred to communicate. Thankfully. as technology caught up with the desire for instant communication we have been able to change that. By leveraging both text messages and phone calls, David’s team was able to immediately engage with a lead through an automated text and ask them if they preferred a phone call. This gave the text message a real sense of authenticity, you don’t want people to believe it is a computer texting them.

This creates a two fold benefit for agents. First, if the customer is busy or can’t get on a call they can respond to a text whenever they are available. Second, if the customer says they do want a call, you are no longer calling a cold lead. If you could imagine for a moment how annoying it would be to be forced to shop in only one way, you could understand how annoying it is for potential homebuyers to always have to be on a call. Let your clients have options and they will feel much more at ease during the stressful endeavor of purchasing a home.

David also prides himself on providing the best possible customer experience. “How you create a great experience is you create a true process,” trust is simply consistent actions over a long period of time. That is what has set Agentology apart from its peers. When anyone joins their program, they are automatically sent a box of company swag followed by a check in call a month later. Their system is not set up in a way that is different for every customer, it is a tried and true process that all clients go through in order to build a relationship and a great customer experience.

If you are an agent on your own these techniques are specifically important to you. If you create a process that makes your leads feel welcomed and cared for it can make up for the fact that you don’t have a 100 person team behind you. Implement texting strategies that give your clients more flexibility. It will also give you better insight into who really wants to do business.
